Evansville's Central Loses To Gary Mann By United Press A pair of real thrillers headlined | a sparse prep basketball slate last night with Gary Mann taking the j honors in an intersectional tussle with Evansville Central and Terre ; Maute State tumbling Terre Haute Gerstmeyer. Mann's victory, the fourth in a | row after a shaky start, was a 45-to-42 comeback affair. The horsemen trailed Central’s Golden Bears, 28 to 38. at the end of the third quarter. -But they pulled even with I a minute to play, and forward Don Lozow sank the winning busket from the sidelines. Hartford Five Beats Geneva, Ninth In Row Those tough Hartford Gorillas continued their merry undefeated ways Thursday night, defeating the Geneva Cardinals. 48-31, on the Geneva floor. It was Hartford's ninth victory of the season without a loss. The Cardinals made a battle of it in the first quarter, the period ending in a 9-9 tie. Hartford then tabled 12 points to four for Geneva to take a 21-13 lead at the half. The Gorillas were on top at the third quarter. 37-20. ; Jerry Dubach, veteran star of the sectional champs, led both teams in scoring with 19 points. Rotarians Enjoy Musical Program An entertaining instrumental musical program was presented at the weekly meeting of the Decatur Rotary club Thursday evening. The program, directed by Albert Sellemeyer, hand director for the Decatur high school, consisted of a violin solo iby Miss Carolyn Burnett; I trumpet solo by George Bair, Jr.; j flute solo by Miss Barbara AnI spaugh; saxophone solo by little Miss .Marilyn Kirchenbauer, and saxophone duets and quartets by Bruce Macy and the Misses Donna Kirchenbauer, Frances Morris, and . One Slightly Hurt As Autos Collide Mrs. Rose Lenhart of this city received shoulder and leg injuries when an automobile driven by her husband, Orval Lenhart, and a car driven iby John Jones, also of Decatur, collided in the west part of Decatur Thursday af.ernoon about 2:30 o'clock. Orphans Entertained By Marine Reserves Evansville, inti., Dec. 24 — (UP) — Fifty children from a local orphanage were adopted for 24 hours by the marine reserves with the approval of Kris Kringle himself. The reserves turned cut in their “dress blues” to recruit the children >for a day-long Christmas party in nearby Santa Claus.
