Leap Year A Flop; Gals Didn't Hook Their Men In 1948 A much-heralded leap year is drawing to a close, and a look at the record books shows that Cupid was outstatisticed. The quadrennial free-for-all in which the woman is supposed to have her way turned out all wrong. Milady didn't hook her man at all . . . well, not nearly so successfully as was expected. The year 1947 was a normal non leap year. During ' 1947, Adams count/ courthouse records show, 359 marriage licenses were taken out. But this year, 1948, leap year, there have been only 266. Os course, the year isn’t over, but nobody anticipates a last min ute rush of 93 couples as the result of a Sadie Hawkins day type of courtship. The experts just weren't commenting on the disappointing figures. #JOMTAI.
