X lovely, picturesque wedding was that of Miss Gloria Charlyne Striker, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Striker, 402 Mercer avenue, and John Thomas Doyle, only son cf Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Doyle, of New Castle, which took place Sunday afternocn at two o’clock at the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church. The double ling vows were received by the Rev. F. H. Willard. Seven branched candelabra flankidKthe altar on either side, which was arranged with beauty vases of white gladiolus and red and white poinsettas, tied with white satin bows. The bridal gown was of traditional white satin. The nylon yoke was edged in matching ruffling which accented the very fitted bodice, and the flared skirt tapered to a chape train. She wore a fingertip length veil of Illusion, adorned with wax orange blossoms, and attached to a braided satin head gear. Her colonial bouquet was of white poinsettas, interspersed with French leaves of white satin which surrounded a chartruese cysopedium orchid. The long satin ■■dreamers were tied in lovers knots. Maiy Cloy served the groom as best man, and Ernest Klotsch, Gene Robinson and Don Torver, of New Castle, ushered. Mrs. Striker chose an outfit of royal blue crepe with black accessories and a corsage of Ameri can beauty roses. The groom's mother wore grey with black acce"sories and a Talisman rose cor■ng* ‘ Mrs. Catherine Stewart, of this city, and Mrs. Warren Striker. ■>f Geneva, grandmothers of the bride, wore corsages cf American beauty roses and white carnations. Miss Mary Jo Krick, Mrs. Jethro B. Sprunger and Miss Clarice Anr.paugh assisted in serving the one hundred and fifty guests at the reception following the ceremony in the church social rooms. A huge ■hree-tier wedding cake, decorated with swans, love birds and apple blossom- and topped with a minia ure bride and groom, centered the beautifully appointed serving table. Floral arrangements were used throughout the rooms. A 5 pound, ounce baby boy was 'born to Mr. and Mrs. Arden Mosser at 1:40 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Adams county memorial hospital. He has not been named. Miss Betty Anspaugh, student nurse at St. Joseph hospital, Fort Wayne, spent the -weekend here. She will return home again Wednesday for a -week’s holiday visit. Miss 'Barbara Butcher, daughter of Lewis Butcher, of West Monroe street, has -been admitted to the Caylor-Nickel clinic at Bluffton for rea ment. Her condition is somevhat improved. Lt. Ivan Mahan is expected to spend Christmas with relatives and friends near Decatur. He recently reenlisted in the U. New York's heavy snowstorm was a lucky break for Bob Hite, nephew of Fan and Madge Hite of this city, and an up-and-coming announcer on station WCBS, New York. Bob filled in as announcer on the coast-to-coast Arthur Godfrey pro gram this morning when the regular staffer was stranded at home. Godfrey had some fun with his new announcer, -who wasn't too sure just what products his commercials were selling.
