Show New Concrete Houses Saturday

YostsToShow Use Os Concrete As Open House Public Is Invited To Inspect Houses In Stratton Place Formal showing as the newest methods and materials In house construction will be offered the public at an open house of two reinforced concrete ranch type bungalows, built by C. L. Yost and son, R. L. Yost, of the Yost constriction company, on Porter Vista Drive. Stratton Place, Saturday afternoon and evening. With their shining white walls, the houses are located at 121 and lis Porter Vista Drive. The latter is not yet fullyconipleted. Os ranchtype design, the houses are 28 by 36 feet in size and, contain five roams, in addition to a modern bath room. The complement includes a kitchen, dinette, living room and two beed rooms. With monolithic poured walls, the houses are the first all-con-crete residences to be built in the city. The walls are eight inches thick. The Yost Construction company has successfully pioneered the construction of concrete buildings, but these are the first houses to be constructed by the company. Successful in these projects, the Yosts decided to construct tiwo modern residences as evidence that concrete could be used in building attractive, fireproof houses, along the most attractive lines of architectural design. The public will have the opportunity to inspect these examples of present-day construction, at the open house Saturday, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and from 6 to 9 in the evening. A full basement, with concrete floor, is under each house. Modern conveniences are installed in the one house, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Yost. The houses will be heated with coal and the heating plant, electric wiring and plumbing systems, and other equipment were installed by local dealers. Attractive windows add charm to the houses. With their steel frames, the windows led grace to the appearance of the modernly designed houses. One of the houses already has an attached garage. Yosts used Portland cement in the construction of the houses and representatives of the cement industry are pleased with the efficient results Obtained. Stratton Place was established by John R. Worthman of Fort Wayne and the Yost homes are among the nearly two score erected in Decatur’s newest subdivision. The subdivision is zoned and has its own sewer system running direct to the river, the streets are improved.
