Construct Manger Scene On Lawn At Methodist Church Another addition to the city’s Christmas decorations is being added on West Monroe street. On the lawn between the parsonage and the First Methodist church various members of that congregation are busy constructing the traditional creche or manger scene. The whole project started when the committee in charge of the “Month of Christmas” celebration during the advent season thought that an outside Christmas scene should be constructed, .’it first the purchase of such a scene was contemplated. Then it was realized that as the people work constructively on such items the more permanent .worth is obtained. The proper committeees were appointed and various jabs were assigned. Miss Anna K. Williams headed the total project. Miss Katherine Kauffman of the local high school staff drew the designs for the set from one of the old masterpieces of art. Berry and Burdette Custer cut the figures from plywood and sealed them and the paintings with varnish. C. Doyle Collier, manual arts teacher at Mon mouth, supervised the outdoor floodlighting and silhouette lighting. Noah Schrock built the rustic background (Which was used also in the play presented las# Sunday evening in the church. Fern Passwater served on the general planning committee. Many others also helped especially in the building of the platform on which the whole project rests. Lowell Smith planned for and supervised the music which is being played at specified hours. Girl Scouts To Sing Carols Here Saturday Decatur Girl Scouts will conduct their annual Christmas caroling Saturday afternoon, beginning at the community Christmas tree at the court house at 2:30 o'clock. The Scouts will then go to the Adams county memorial hospital and the county home. Following their caroling, the Scouts will enjoy a social hour at the First Christian church. The community Christinas tree has been decorated by the Girl Scouts with ornaments either donated or made by them.

ECA said, has been a 35,000-ton cutdown in nonferrous metal allotments to all feRP nations. For the nations under review it means this: Britain will be cut down from IXB,OOO tons of metals to 132,000 tons; the Netherlands cut in half from its 10,000 tons allocations, and Belgium reduced from 6,500 tons to 5,000.
