'• 290-3 t Auto Dealer Faces Threal Os Conlempl Refuses To Answer Creditors Queries
Edwardsville, 111., Dec. 11—(UP) —The law office of Lt. Governor Hugh W. Cross today said the threat of contempt proceedings against automobile dealer Robert L. Knetzer was no "bluff” and a petition would be ready in a "few days." Cross, representing the • trustee for Knetzer's bankrupt partner. Arthur F. Kramer, made the threat yesterday when Knetter refused to answer several questions at a creditors' meeting here. The meeting has been postponed until January 7. In Jerseyville Cross’ law partner. John Gibbons, said the lieutenant governor was not pulling a "bluff" but the petition would not be pre sented to bankruptcy referee Thomas Williamson until a trans cript of yesterday's proceedings could be studied. Cross made the contempt threa* when Williamson declared he was powerless to force Knetzer to an swer questions.
Knetser answered some of the questions, once admitting he did hot own a car himself. He also listed such assets as a poker table, a silver service worth $750 and a lease on a duck reservoir in Stuttgart, Ark. When told that the silver service was reported to be worth $7,000, Knetzer answered: "that's just what the newspapers say.” He added that if the newspapers could get that much for it be would be happy. 1 Knetzer treated just as lightly a question concerning the value of the duck hunting lodge. “That depends on the ducks," he said.
