Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coppess, prominent Adams county residents residing near Monroe, will observe their golden wedding anniversary with a 6 o'clock dinner Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Handl Foley of Preble. The celebrants were married on November 20, 1898, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Carson, by the Rev. John McKean. They have three children: Mildred Foley, Preble; Calvin Coppes®, of Coppess Corners, and Albert Coppess, a teacher at Pleasant Mills high school; also three grandchildren, Jean and Richard Coppess. and Odell Foley. Mr. and Mrs. Coppess have made their home on a farm west of Monroe for the past 42 years. Both are enjoying good health.

EASTERN STAR TO HAVE INSPECTION A called meeting of the Eastern Star will be held Wednesday at the Masonic hall. The worthy grand matron. Mrs. Sanoma Woodruff, will attend and inspect the Portland, Geneva and Decatur chapters. A pot-luck supper will be served at six thirty o’clock, with the meat, rolls and coffee being furnished by the Decatur chapter. Those attending are asked to bring able service. The meeting will begin at eight o'clock.

Mrs. Gerald Strickler presided at the business meeting, during . hich Mrs. Sylvester Everhart gave a report of the regional meeting recently held at Detroit. Various committee reports were also made. Miss Bonnie Strickler and Mrs. Dorothy Hunt, were welcomed into the group. The next meeting will be the Christmas party and dollar gift exchange, with Cleora White as chairman. RECEPTION GIVEN FOR SOYS TOWN CHOIR MEMBERS Members of the Boys Town choir, their directors. Psi lota XI sorority memliers and their guests attended a reception for the choir in the home economics room of the juniorsenior high school following the concert Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Donald N'orquest will attend the Purdue-Indiana game Saturday. Mrs. Ruth Hollingsworth will spend the weekend in Chicago visiting her daughter, Betty Jean, a student nurse at Michael Reese hospital. Mrs. Charles H. Biitner, of this city, and Mrs. Emma Goldner, Fort Wayne, are guests of Mrs. K. 'E. Jensen and family in Chicago. Mrs. Jensen is the former Florence Leota Bittner. Mrs. Robert M. Fritzinger has returned home from Fort Wayne, where she visited with friends. The Kroger store front here received a coat of bright green paint today to brighten its appearance. The walls of the First State bank are being washed by experts to keep the big room looking cheerful.

Mr. and Mrs. William Fritzinger are the parents of a baby girl, born at 1:03 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Adams county memorial hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, IH4 ounces. A baby girl was horn to Mr. and Mrs. Hobart M. Moore, Geneva, Thursday at 1 a.m. at the local hospital. She has not been named. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Minton, of Geneva, are the parents of a daughter, born at the Adams county hospital Thursday morning at 3:12 o'clock. Connie Marie is the name of the baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich Reinhard, Berne, at 8:29 p.m. Thursday at the local hospital. A baby girl was born to MF. and Mrs. Lawrence Bollenbacher at 5:44 o'clock Thursday morning at the Adams county memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Puthoff, Bellmont, are the parents of a son. King And Queen Os Egypt Are Divorced Cairo, Nov. 19 — (UP) — King Farouk and Queen Farida of Egypt have been divorced, it was announced officially today. The royal couple was wed in 1938. It was announced that Mohammed Rezta Pahlevi, the Shah of Iran, and Princess Fawzia, sister of King Farouk, had had their marriage dissolved by common accord. It had been common knowledge for several years that the Shah and his wife were not on friendly terms.
