vince officer. Miss Billie Jane Grubb, of Wabash. “The amount of business transacted, reports and accomplishments prove you are a working chapter, therefore a healthy one. Your leadership is excellent. you have a definite and successful annual project and the Decatur associate group leads the associate chapters of province eight in financial status.” These remarks followed the regular business meeting. Miss Grubb discussed and answered numerous questions from he members. She visited last evening as a guest and was not here for any official business. Mrs. Roy Kalver presented an e::- - cellent and entertaining dramatic reading of the current play “Mr. Roberts.” written by Thomas Heg|gen and Joshua Logan. “Mr. Roberts." in the opinion of John Mason Brown, was a profoundly moving, if hilarious play about life as it’ was endured in the Pacific aboard a drab navy cargo vessel which never saw action. It was tough-fibered, muscular and exuberant in its animalism. Yet it was filled with compassion. Walter Winchell said “Mr. Roberts plays the spine, heart and funnybone equally well. It shows how sailors who never heard a shot fired in anger, but whose spirits I were attacked by boredom, brasshattism and the irksome details of a military existence looked upon the war in one corner of the Paci- , fie." Miss Grubb and Mrs. Kalver were both presented with lovely corsages ■ by the chapter. Delicious refreshments were serv- . ed by Mrs. Leonard Saylors and Mrs. Wilbur Petrie, who presided at the candleligh'ed table. Mrs. Benedict Schulman, of Chi--1 ago. mother of Mrs. Kalver. was a guest at the meeting. Mrs. Gladys Chamberlain, assisted by Mrs. Carl 1 Gerber, was hostess.
