Eight Persons Hurt In Nurses 4 Home Fire Mishawaka. Ind.. Oct. 25 tl'P) Eight persons were injured, one seriously, early today when fire broke out in the nurses' home oj 3t. Joseph's hospital here. Several nurses and firemen were burned while trying to escape from the blazing two-story frame building Fifteen nurses escaped uninjured French Troops Seizing Mines From Strikers Richest Coal Mines Taken From Strikers Led By Communists Paris. Oct. 25.—(UP)— Thirty thousand troops and security guards In full battle kit swept through .100 square miles of northtion's richest coal mines from Comern Erance today and seized the na munis! led strikers. He had been ill since early in August and bedfast for the past week Born in Adams county Nov. 11 1*69. he was a son of David and Augusta Biey-Werllng He wa* married Oct. 18. 1»93. to Christina Schmidt. Mr. Werling was employed for 10 years a* engineer for the Indiana Pipeline Co. at the Preble pumping station until his retire ment 15 year* ago. The family moved to Decatur In 1938. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church Surviving are hi* wife; two daughter*. Mrs. Amanda Dierke* of Decatur and Mr* Mildred Ger mann of Preble; two grandchildren; three brother*. Albert of Preble. Charles of Jacksonville. Fla., and Raymond of Fort Wayne, and two sister*. Mr* Eli Goldner of Preble and Mr* Harry Chai fant of Griffith. Two *l*ter» and one brother are deceased.
