Phone 5651. 214-2 U Temporary Embargo Put On Tomatoes Berne, Sept 11- Due to an extra ordinary harvest of tomatoes in this area, a temporary embargo han been placed on the delivery of tomatoes to the Llmberiost Canning company at Geneva, and also to other canning factories in this area All picking of tomatoes for tlie Geneva plant has stopped until next week. The tomato crop here is believed the best in history, with some farmers picking five to six tons per acre per picking Ten tons an acre Is considered a good crop and many fields will double this yield this year The Geneva plant has been receiving an average lof about 240 tons dally and can only process from 170 to 200 tons a day, giving the plant a big backlog. Tomatoes are being paid for at the rate of 929 per ton for No. 1 quality.
