Kerchoo! Hay Fever Follies In Debut Tonight Tonight at midnight, legend has it. hundreds of be witched Decaftir citizens will awaken with a good, hearty sneeze. The chorus of sneezes will herald the beginning of the hay fever I season, which will not draw to a much-welcomed close until the first frost. For the uninitiated, George M, Gould. A. M.. M. D.. In his medical dictionary, defines hay fever as follows: "Reasons! disease of nasal mucous membrane, with coryza, catarrhal inflammation, and lacrimation." For sufferers, that means simply a running, ruddy nose, almost incessant sneezing and coughing, and inflamed and tearing eyes Medical science has been able to do little to aid the hay fever victim. Some unfortunates take In- 1 jections the year round, only to feel as bad as ever when confronted with the vicious ragweed in season. Beside*, they say, the shots give them brief attacks nt hay fever at eavh dose. Others wear masks or weird devices on their persecuted noses, to filter out the offending pollen This brings up the debatable point of whether it is better to look like a man from Mars or simply a hay fever sufferer. Try as they will, though. i>eca tur hay feverltes will have to en dure their annual torture until the first blessed frost brings their cheers . . . and a few oaths from the farmers.
