Seek New Contracl For Armour Workers Contracts With Two Big Packers Expire Chicago. Aug. 11— t'Pt—t’nlon and company officials, negotiating around the clock, sought to reach a wage agreement covering Armour packing company workers today as union contracts with two big four packers expired. The United Packinghouse Workers' contracts with Armour and Wilson expired at midnight. The bargaining session at Armour began at in a. m. yesterday and was still underway today. A union spokesman said some pro gress had been made. No negotiations were scheduled with Wilson. A union spokesman said no strike action was planned against the company at present. He said, however, that a strike was a possibility. The union has signed new contracts with the other members of the big four. Cudahy and Swift. The union also met with officials of John Morrell and com pany at Otturqwa. la. in an effort to reach a wage settlement. The present contract at that firm also expired today. The union caleld a two-month strike against the nation'c major packers last spring in a demand for a 29-cent hourly wage increase. Aug. 11 — (UP) — Police said today that a Sl-year-old army major used a World War II souvenir gun to kill his pretty wife and himself when she spurned his reconciliation pleas. They said Maj. Thomas L. Morris shot 20-yeer-old Mrs. Audrey Morris after he tried uMlsucceMfully to persuade her to end their sitmonth separation. Then he ended his own life In the kitchen of her home with a .22 cal bro Csechoslovakian pistol he brought home from the war. Officers found his body on the floor, blood splattered over numerous World War II ribbons he wore. The couple's five-year-old daughter. Patricia, was taken from the home shortly before the shooting by a housekeeper who heard the two arguing. Police said Morris, a native of Delodge. "Also may we speak of the tremendous increase in the price of all commodities. "During the first six months of this year we have served 31.262 meals. This does not take into consideration any feeding for infants whatsoever. “The unbelievable increase in the price of medicines and drugs. Our last shipment of drugs showed a single jump of 33*4 percent. This is a situation hard to cope with. These very medicines are vital to healing the sick, controlling disease, fighting infection.
