: Grain, Stock And . Butter Prices Drop Have Little Effect At Retailer Levels Chicago, July 20 — (UP) — Grain, livestock, and butter prices dropped slightly at major markets today but experts said housewives would not benefit much from the decline. Wholesale butter prices dropped two cents a pound in New York and up to two cents at Chi cago in nervous early trading. Hogs sold up to 25 cents a hun dredweight lower at 12 major mid western terminals. Grain generally was only a fraction of a cent a bushel lower in Chicago. Although prices continued to decline from the all-time high levels registered last week, agri culture department experts said they probably would sett’e only slightly lower The decline would have little effect on retail prices, they said. The grain market showed signs of stiffening today, following a sharp decline yesterday while livestock prices have fallen very little from last week’s peaks. I Butter prices dropped sharply ,at the Chicago mercantile ex- ‘ change yesterday but fell only H ito two cents today. The 2-cent drop at New York was more pronounced.
