The number of marriage licenses issued In the county clerk's office this month was more than double the average of the first six months of the year. Forty-two licenses were issued this month, compared with a sixmonth average of 20 licenses a month, according to official records. In fait, picnic food is good wherever you eat it. Ro mow the lawn, set up card tables, cover with a gay cloth, and serve your Fourth of July food In the backyard. Backyard Picnic Menu Country Fried Chicken. Potato Salad Whole Wheat Lettuce Sand wlches. Assorted Relishes. Strawberry Ice Cream Pie. Iced Tea. Country Fried Chicken 2—3-pound chickens. 1 cup flour. 1H tablespoons salt 1 teaspoon pepper. 1 t-k tablespoons paprika Fat. Clean chickens and cut In serving pieces Mix flour and seasonings; dip chicken Into flour mix•ure: lightly brown on all sides in hot fat. Add a little water; cover closely and cook over low heat 1 hour Uncover to brown and crisp Recipe serves 6 to 8. Potato Salad 6 potatoes, cooked in jackets <4 cups cubed). 1 onion, chopped. 3 hard cooked eggs, sliced. I cup chopped celery. 1 cucumber, diced. I>4 teaspoon salt % teaspoon paprika I teaspoon celery seed •4 cup French dressing. Mayonnaise. Combine Ingredients except dressings: chill and mainate In ■Trench dressing 4 to 4 hours. Just before serving, add mayonnaise and mix carefully Recipe serves 8 Strawberry Ice Cream Pie 1 package strawberry flavored gelatine. 1% cups hot water I tablespoon lemon juice. 1 pint vanilla ice cream. I cup crushed strawberries, fresh or frozen 1 9-lnch baked pie shell. Dissolve gelatine in hot water Add lemon juice Chill until par tially aet. Beat Ice cream into gelstine. Fold in crushed strawberries. Pour chilled filling into s kabed pie shell. Chill the pie until firm — A pie couldn't be easier to make or more delicious than thia. Philadelphia Housing For Democrats Short I J'hiladelphia, June 3<) (UP) The Democrats were having a tougher time today finding housing for their convention delegates than the Republicans did last week Mrs. Edna Leavry, head of the Democratic national convention bousing bureau, said that the same numbe; of rooms are available but that her party needs at least 1.000 more accomodations than the GOP I required. Mrs. Leavry said the city promised a total of 6,00<> rooms to accomodate convention delegates, but only 4.000 of them ate available.
