Award Baer Field To Cify Os Fort Wayne Airport Awarded To City Without Cost Chicago. June 9 (UP) The war assets administration said today that Baer Field, a 1,296 acre field, bus been awarded without cor.t to the city of Fort Wayne. Ind The airpur’, th" lust war surplus air field in Indiana, has three concrete runways, all more than 6,o<M> feet lung. It consists of approximately 209 acres of government-owned land. 735 acres leased from the city and 342 acres covered by easements. Joseph A. Burke, deputy WAA regional director, said the award also included 125 buildings, about half of which now are being used by the air reserve, air national guard and ground national guard. Burke said the buildings in use by the reserve units will be leased to them by the ci'y on a long term basis.
