BTCreamed gjj I I on s.s.*«rrf Creamed Comments on the Sunday School Lesson, Malachi demands Sincere Religion. Malachi I'l-9; 2 13. 14. 3:7-12 for Sunday. May 18. from God to the place where their worship of God was a mere formal act and therefore insincere and lacked spiritual qualities. As a result they had a low concept of ’God. they exhibited selfishness when worshipping, they had wrong relations with their fellowman. they were unfaithful in marriage relations and robbed God of his tithes. V.L "The burden of the word of the Lord to lerael by Malachi." When the word of God is Ignored then follows a spiritual decline. V. 6. "A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master, if then be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where Is my fear? saith the Lord of Hosts unto you, O priests that despalse my name, and ye say, Wherein have we dceplsed thy name?" God is honored just in the measure that j men respect and revere him. V.7. "And ye offer polluted bread I upon mine alter; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord Is contemptible." The Israelites become so selfish that theyi considered anything was good enough for God. V. 9. "And if ye offer the blind' for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Offer it now to thy governor; will he be pleased wlthf thee, or accept thy person; saith' the Lord of hosts.' The law of God was that all victims sacrificed in worship should be perfect; presenting the imperfect was a violation of God's laws; such violation would not be tolerated in government. Here was a poor concept of God. V. 9. “And now 1 pray you. beseech God that he will be gracious unto u's; this has been by your means; will he regard your persons? saith the Lord of hosts." We should constantly remember that! God is no respecter of persons.) God pays attention in a special manner to those who strive to do' right and make him supreme in' their lives. Vl3. "And this have ye done 1 again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping.
Oup Preacher 'Tl iw; In order to be mentally healthy, we will accept misfortune in good taith. Peace of mind must rest in the belief that life is governed by wise and*just laws even though we do not undenstaad our good or bad experiences. To accept personal disaster, which we feel we do not deserve, calls for an unflinching faith, it isn't that we submit resent fully but that we cooperate by surrendering. A young soldier coming out of ether was told he had lost a leg. "No, f did not lose it. I gave it.” He was both surrendering and cooperating, and all his life »<>uid be happier for his cour-

and with crying out. Insomuch that he regardeth no} the offering any more or recelveth with good will a: your hand." The tears spoken of here are generally regarded as th tea re of the outraged Hebrew wives described in the next verse. V. 14. "Yet ye say. Wherefore? Becanse the lx>rd hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously; yet she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant." infidelity between husband and wife takes place when God is ruled out. The marriage vow is a sacred matter because the Institution of home u< sacred; it is there where God reveals himself first and most effectively; to ignore the dignity and devotion of mutual family relations forbids ■he giving of God a chance. When God ••an not reign and rule in the home, he can not reign and rule in the nation. V.7. "Even ftorn the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me and I will return unto you. saith the Lori! ot hosts. But ye said. Wherein shall we return." Here Is a gracious promise applicable to every age When men turn away from God, he turns away from them; hut if they will return, he will change his attitude V.B. "Will a man rob God, Yet. ye have robbed me. But ye say. Wherein have we robbed thee. In tithes ahd offerings." Honest money represents honest work, and expenditure of life. If a life is surrendered to God then that represents life aieo belongs to God; ‘he tithe is a recognition of this fact. V 9. "Ye are cursed with a curse; for ye have robbed me. even this whole nation." Those who rob God also roh themselves of the blessings of God and bring down their own heads, as well as that of their children and the nation, the withering Judgments ot God. V in. "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in tny house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Ixrrd of hosts if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room to receive it." An open heaven and the outpoured overflowing blessings of God are two of the many promises for the trustful and faithful tither. V. 12. "And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts." God's promise is that if we may not destroy the fruits of our efforts.
