Members were also requested to bring a copy of their favorite prayer to the next circle meetings which will be placed in a scrapbook. The group also pledged to offer prayer at nine p.m. dally for the peace of the world Announcement was made that the society will again send a girl to Camp Yo-Pe-Mi-Ca this summer; al so ot the invitation received to attend the musicale and tea on June 3 at the Presbyterian church, being sponsored by the Ladies Aid society ot that church. Lovely refreshments were served at a later hour in the church dining room.

B P- W. CLUB MEMBERS ENTERTAIN MOTHERS Members of the Business and Professional Woman's flub entertained their mothers and guests Wednesday evening with a six thirty dinner at the Masonic hall. The tables were attractively decorated with flowers and candles, and ea< h place was marked with a tiny silver basket. Mrs. James Kocher, Jr., furnished music during the dinner, and Bonnie Kreigh gave two readings, accompanied at the piano by Beverly Hidden. Gifts were then presented to the oldest mother. .Mrs. Milton Squires; youngest mother. Mrs. Robert Reher; mother with most children, Mrs. Von Reber. Mrs John Beineke and Jane Klelnhenz were awarded door prizes Bingo was then enjoyed During the business meeting. Eva Bayles and Marcia Martin were ap pointed delegates to the state convention on May 23, 29 and .30. Nina Miller and Josephine Oswalt were appointed bontf chairmen. A silent auction sale will be conducted and all members are urged to attend. The Ixiyal Daughters class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church will meet at the home of Mrs. Frank Lynch Tuesday evening at seven thirty o'clock. Mrs. George Sprague will be the assisting hostess. The St. Catherine Discussion club will meet at the home of Miss Alice Geimer Monday evening at seven thirty o'clock. The monthly meeting of the Friendship Village Home Economics club will lie held at the North Brick school on Thursday. AFL Pledges Aid To Recovery Plan Green Pledges Full Support To Program Milwaukee. Wis. May 14—(UP) - Wi'llam Green, president of the American Federation of laibor. today pledged the federation’s full support of the 25,300,000.000 European recovery program. He made the pledge to Paul G. Hoffman. ECA administrator, who came here to en'ist the union's cooperation In carrying out the giant recovery plan. "We have offered Hoffman the AFL's help in the biggest and broadest way that he might wish.” Green said. Hoffman was scheduled to meet with the AFL's executive council later today to recruit aides for the program. "We're choosing people who will devote themselves to ECA objectives." Hoffman said at a news conference, "and not to any particular group or organization." It would be "disastrous" for the United States if ECA should fail, he said. If communixm sweep.' over western Europe, ft would mean the United States would have to spend 20-mrilon dollars a year to defend our freedom, he said. Hoffman had said that talks with other labor groups have been going on for the last two weeks. Their purpose Is to enlist the support of organized labor behind the ECA 'program. Primarily. Hoffman wants to count upon a major labor figure to serve on each of the special mislxons to the Hl European nations which are signed up to take part in the recovery program. Industry, with a stake In the ultimate sales to Europe will go along. Hoffman is seeking the same assurances from U. S. labor. — . o— — — Miss Morv R. Smith Honored At Purdue Miss Mary R. Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs Torn Smith of Nuttman avenue, has been honored by the Gold Peppers, the Junior women's activity honorary society, for her extra curricular activities at Purdue University She was one of 24 students honored by the sotlety. Miss Smith la completing her junior year at Purdue. Awards were conferred on Miss Smith as a member of the Green Guard, which is a counselor service for undergraduates. her work at radio station WBAA. as home economies editor on the Purdue Agriculturalist magazine and In the Purdue musical organization. In connection with her radio and magazine work. Miss Smith Is the author of the weekly menu column which is published In the Decatur Daily Democrat each week under the heading. “Cook's Corner." John Adong Dies At Hospital Thursday John P. Adang. 87, of east of Geneva, died Thursday at the Idums county memorial hospital. Surviving are five sons. William, east of Geneva. Ed. Charles and Joseph all of Fort Wayne and Alfred of Conneaut. O.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Reitz of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Emma Topp of Delphos, O; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Theresa Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am.
