New Wiring System Developed By G. E. Many Conveniences In Master System New York. May 13—(UP)— A new electric wiring system that makes it possible for a housewife to turn on the coffee percolator in the kitchen before she gets out of bed was announced today. Engineers of the General Electric company, which dveloped the new system, also listed other conveniences. They Included: Front and hack door lights may be controlled, not only at the doors, but from the kitchen and master bedroom: the radio outlet may be controlled from the telephone location, and the entire house lighting system may be switched on from the bedroom if an intruder enters. The new system, the GE engineers said, differs from the conventional system in that the switches are connected to the outI lets which they control by a new lightweight wire varying only 25 volts. "Finger pressure on the 25-yolt switches activates 25-volt delays mounted at the lights or outlets." T. I). Foster, company spokesman, said. "The relays, in turn, turn the lights or on off." He said the low voltage is pro vided by a small transformer, conveniently located somewhere in the home. Foster said that because of the low voltages at the switches, the danger of shock is eliminated. The switches, he said, are small and < liminate the wallplates and are not mounted in large switch boxes. “A gentle push on the switch. turns the light on or off.” he said > "Only one type of switch is installed. no matter how many control (mints are needed.” The new system, according to the company, also will have application an the farm and in Industry. For instance, he said that on the farm, the lights in a bam may be turned on from any entrance. and that yard lights may be controlled from any farm building. He said that in offices and factories. the lights near windows may be turnul off without affecting those farther from the windows. and that Ifchts through the building may be controlled by the night watchman. Small machines, he added, may be turned off at Innch time from the foreman's 'fl 2% t 11 “ > ' ■'
