It was th<year's biggest shipment and forced prices down by as much as 81.50 per hundred pounds. Today, farmers sent only 43.000 hogs to the 12 big cornbwlt markets. and prices rose 75 cents to 81 at Chicago and elsewhere. Two more pickets were arrested at Armour's Chicago plant today bringing to 36 the number taken into custody here in the last two days. Police arrested Sam Curry, an official of the Armour local union, on charges of assaulting a nonstriker at the idant entrance. Another picket was arrested for allegedly threat- ' ening a iMdiceman. The union, which called the nationwide meat strike March 16. claimed that fewer workers re--1 ported for duty at struck Armour ' plants yesterday than at any time 1 since the strike began. 1 The company said however that It had "a satisfactory response'' to Its call for union and non-union ' workers and that a ''substantial'* number of strikers returned to work.
