Most Indiana Coal Miners Still Idle Strip Mine Workers Returning To Pits Terre Haute, Ind , April 18— (UP)-r”Pre-arranged meMings" of union shaft miners were blamed today for the failure of soft coal worker* to report to their Jobs at Indiana's major shaft mines. John Brann, president of a United Mine Workers local here, said that the miners employed In seven shaft mines In the Terre Haute area had planned to hold meetings when the nationwide soft coal strike ended to decide whether they wanted to return to their Jobs Meetings were scheduled for today by al! union locals In UMW district 11, Brann said.
