softener servicing business some time this year, the town board decided this week. The board alleges the town is losing money steadily on this service and as of Monday, February 23, hikes the rate from .75 cents and $1.50 to $1.25 and $2. The smaller charge is for softeners which are delivered and picked up at the water works by the owner, the bigger charge tor softeners the town employes have to pick up and deliver. The Culligan Zeolite Company has been furnishing the material for the water softeners and they requested the town to install more and expensive equipment. The town board ruled the profit made from this work did not warrant new equipment and thqs’elare they are hiking the prices until the work is suspended b* fore the first of the year. Effective February 16, 1949, Ermal L. Owens, of Linn Grove, will have the contract to service local water softeners now serviced by the town. —o GRAIN PRICES son announced that the government will not buy any more wheat for rellef shipments overseas until prices stabilize. o GARY MAN TO ENTER governor.
