I Creamed Comments on the Sunday School Lesson. When We Work i With God. 2nd. Corinthians 5:20,21; j 6:1-10 for Sunday, January 25. I In this lesson there comes into view the fact that God heeds fellow workers and that it is our privilege to work with him. So God without men can not save the world and men without God can not save the world. V. 20. ‘‘Now then we are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us; we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” In the preceding verses the meaning and result’s of Christ’s death were presented: this constituted the message to be proclaimed and this called for ambassadors who were Christ's representatives. The work of representing Christ and proclaiming his messages is an exalted form of working with God. The result of the work of Christ’s ambassadors is that of bringing about a reconciliation between the sinner and God. V. 21. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the right- : eoueness of God in him.” Christ has ; in some real way taken sin in its < whole reality into himself. The end i of Christ taking our sins upon him- t self is that we might share God’s < righteousness. i V.l. “We then, as workers to- 1 gether with him, beseech ye also that ye receive not the grace of < God in vain.” The grace of God < has been extended to us through < the redemption achieved by Christ f But if we do not personally ac- j cept of it, them so far as we are c concerned it is extendeu to us in vain. J V. 2. “For he saitn, i nave heard 1 thee in a time accepted, and in I
the day of salvation have succored I thee; behold now is the accepted 1 time; behold now is the day of sal- 1 vation.” This verse is introduced I to remind the Corinthians that the 1 present • dispensation is that dis- 1 pensation of grace of which the - prophet Isaiah speaks. llsiah 49:8) J

No higher use can be made of memory than to hold in one’s affection the lives of our loved ones allowing their Christian virtues to take root and live in the survivors. One of the Church’s sacred ordinances in the Holy Communion the import of which is that of remembering Christ our Lord and Saviour and permit his spirit and teachings to take root in our lives. 0 Lesson Prayer Lesson prayer: "We are grateful to be called ambassadors of Christ. We praise God for the privileges of serving the Lord. We rejoice in victory in the face of all conditions though something they seem to . be more than we can stand; give us we pray the victory of faith that

ed.” There was to be no occasion for stumbling through any kind of conduct that would serve as an obstacle against acceptance of the truth. V. 4. “But in every thing commending ourselves, as ministere of God, in much patience, in afflictions. in necessities, in distresses.” • To serve as an accepted ambassat dor one must be patient in every thing. This is no easy task. Afflictions, necessities, and distressed > often occur in the home; scourging, • imprisonment, tumults and labors ' are things which come upon us in the exciting battle of life. The true ambassador of Christ is patient in the midst of trouble every where. He is not bitter, cynical, excited, or violent. V. 6. “In pureness, in knowledge, in long suffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unreined. The true Christian is pure. Purity of life has a dynamic quality. Purity is more than mere abstinence from evil; it is moral power which scatters the forces of un-
righteousness. The true servant is well informed; he has knowledge: he knows what he is talking about; he speaks with the authority of divinely inspired Scriptures behind his words. But God’s child above all is loving. Love is the fulfilling of the law. V.7. “In the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.” A worthy disciple of Christ is a good learner knowing well the word of truth; with the truth lived out he becomes a power for the word of God is powerful; with the word of truth a disciple has an unfailing armor. V.B. “By glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as ’ deceived and yet true.” The kingdom of God grows despite the efforts of unscrupulous men to impede it; Whether men speak well of it or evil, it continues to grow. V. 9. “As unknown and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live: as chastened and not killed.” It is the glory of Christianity that , many a great saint on earth is unknown and willing to sufferdeath for the gospel's sake and by it he lives; “whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth.” The climax of a true child of God is seen in verse 10, “As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.”

i Church Ig I Forum® |i| ~>mr oewtuoott How Overcome Anxiety In these days of uncertainty there is a tendency for anxiety so that people fret and worry. The three main causes for anxiety are food, shelter and future security. These necessities may be real testings of our Christian faith. Christ had need of food and shelter but he gave little thought to these subjects, making the will of God the first thing in his life. He did not know “where to lay his head” but that did not worry him. He was dependent on others for his daily food but he was never anxious about the next meal. He did all in his power to please God, illustrating his teaching: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.” To overcome anxiety calls for a practical working faith which is thiw decribed by Keith Falconer: “First, it is man’s business to do the will of God; second, God takes on himself the special care of that man; third, that man should be afraid of nothing.”
