State Veterinarians To Meet Next Week Indianapolis, Jan. 8 — The 64th annual convention of the Indiana veterinary medical association will be held January 15-17 at the Severin Hotel, with a dozen outstanding speakers and clinicians. Dr. George L. Clark, Columbia City, president, will be in charge. Approximately 400 veterinarians are expected from all parts of the state. Thier wives will attend sessions of the women's auxiliary, with Mrs. L. A. Clark of Bedford presiding. o Wabash River Levee Value Demonstrated Berne, Jan. B—The8 —The value of the Wabash river levee completed south of Berne recently has already been demonstrated, according to farmers living in that area. The levee, even with the flood pump not yet in use, kept the overflow from the Wabash river from spreading into the fertile farm lands in the community during New Year’s Day heavy rainfall. The river was far out of its banks and water stood several feet deep in the fields between the levee and the river but this side of the levee was practically dry and the pump Is expected to make the levee almost 100 percent effective. 0 — Half Os Inspected Plants Violate Act Chicago, Jan. 8 — Almost half of the Indiana establishments inspected by the wage and hour and public contracts divisions, U. S. department of labor, during the last six months were in violation of the major provisions — minimum wage, overtime and child labor —of the fair labor standards act, it was reI ported today by Thomas D. O’Malley, regional director of the divisions. As a result of the minimum wage and overtime violations, approximately 100 Indiana employers agreed to or were ordered to pay $24,402 in back wages. — Bill Introduced To Authorize Payments Chicago, Jan. 8 — A bill to authorize the secretary of war to pay ?25 to iamtlies of deceased servicemen in cases where government headstones or markers are not acceptable, has been introduced in congress by Homer A. Ramey, R., Ohio, and has been referred to the house committee on veteran affairs. 0 Trade In a Good Town — Decatur

TROUTNHR Clerk of the Adams Circuit Court Jan. 8 — Trade In a Good Town — Decatur o AIRLINER CRASH (Continued rrom Page 1) Pinol Octavio and Pilar Diaz, both of New York, said they were dissatisfied with* the plane when they first saw It at Newark airport. They claimed all the passengers tried to get their $57 each passenger money refunded fiom travel agent Manuel Casslano of New York who arranged the trip. They said the agent sent his son to the airport to inspect the plane and he told them they would have to take the plane or lose their money. Three civilian aeronautics administration inspectors from Atlanta arrived here late last night to investigate the crash. They were told of the survivors’ charges and said they might question the passengers.
