Farmers To Pay Tax At Different Rates Gross Income Tax Law Is Unchanged Indianapolis, Jan. B—(Special)— Hundreds of Indiana farmers, now preparing to pay their state gross income tax, may find it necessary to pay the levy on their 1947 receipts at three different rates. “There has been no change in the state law,” Walter L. Sturdevant. chief deputy of the tax division, told reporters here today, “It just happens that many farmers actually are wholesalers, retailers and wage earners.” Farmers who have no income other than that from the sale of their crops to grain elevators, produce and livestock dealers and others who buy for resale will qualify for the one-fourth of one percent rate on all receipts exceeding the 11,000 exemption allowed by law. The current regulations provide that “the farmer who sells any!
