I1 who called for an autopsy. Dr. Russell F. Wilson, hospital B pathologist who conducted the I autopsy, reported that an instrujj ment, probably a bullet, had passed | completely through Hall’s body = in the chest region, collapsing one B lung. _ The wounds were old, he said, and apparently had healed by the b time Ottow was called to treat Hall on Oct. 13. Ottow said he noticed “a small mark on Hall’s chest when I began treating him.” “I asked Hall what had caused it and he said he didn’t know,” Ottow said. "I never noticed that there was a similar mark on his back.” Sheriff Miles C. Sweeney of Rock county said authorities were convinced that the wounds were caused by a small caliber bullet because the mark in the back was smaller than the one in the chest. “Bullets usually cause larger wounds where they emerge than where they enter,” he said. Hall had lived at South Beloit, just south of the Wisconsin-Illinois line, with his 11-year-old son, William, Jr. He was divorced. A sister took him into her home in Beloit when he became sick. She said he had complained that the cement dust hurt his lungs at the factory where he worked, but

j he never reported any accident to I his chest. , Ottow said Hall died after suf- . sering hemorrhage. He said the i wound on Hall’s chest was “at least several weeks old and completely , healed” when he noticed it. Sweeney said the case had been referred to chief Robert Blumer of the Beloit police tor investigation and that Blumer expected to ask authorities in Illinois to cooperate since Hall apparently was shot in that state. 0 Beef Club Members Hold Meeting Here At the call of Joe Koors, 1947 4-H adult beef club chairman, the 4-H beef club members enrolled to date met in the county extension office. Vandenberg said he was informed ” this morning by the state department that American policy “hereout" would be “to make no further shipments of dismantled plants eastward; if any shipments are made they will be westward.” The senate appropriations committee had written into supplemental appropriation bill, which carried funds for occupation costs as well as foreign relief, a “rider” serving notice that it wanted a halt to dismantling of plants in the AngloAmerican zones of Germany. I The house yesterday adopted a resolution asking the state and defense departments to give congress full information on the dismantling and removal of German war plants. o —— Thomas H.
