Honored guests were Harry McDermott, Nellie Jackson, i Mary Winteregg, Doris McDermott, Austin McMichael and Groce Tope. The occasion also marked the seventh wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Winteregg. Following the dinner, bingo, was played. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Artie Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Winteregg, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McDermott, Mrs. Bertha McMichael, Mrs. Mildred Helm, and Mr. and Mrs. Tope. Mr. and j Mrs. Barney Everett and daughter, i of near Celina. 0., were evening j guests. !QUEEN OF ROSARY ■ STUDY CLUB MEETS The Queen of the Rosary Study I club held its regular meeting last evening at the home of Mrs. Maxine Schultz. Mrs. Rose Tricker, leader for the evening, opened the meeting with prayer. Following the gift exchange, names were drawn for the secret, pal for the coming year. Lovely refreshments were then served by the hostess. The next meeting will b hid January 8 at the home of Mrs. Naomi Tricker. WALTHER LEAGUE MEETS WEDNESDAY The Walther league of the Zion Lutheran church held its Christmas party Wednesday evening in the church basement. The entertaining rooms was beautifully decorated in keeping with the Christmas season, and the gifts for the exchange were placed under the brightly lighted tree in the center of the stage. Sprigs of pine and candles centered the tables. A short business meeting was conducted by the president, Dan Freeby, who welcomed a guest, Miss Ramona Germann. The topic discussion, “My Church and My Personality,” was led by Herman Krueckeberg. Following the business meeting, games were enjoyed and gifts exchanged, after which several carols were sung by the group. Delicious refreshments were then served by the committee: Paul Busse, Margene Bauer and Eileen Bleberich. WOMEN’S GUILD HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY Mrs. Adolph Weidler, Mrs. Dan Weidler, Mrs., Carl Stucky, Mrs. Herman VonGunten and Mrs. Hairy Thompson « were hostesses last evening to members of the men’s guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church in regular meeting at the church. The Christmas program included several selections by the girls double trio, under the direction of Mrs. L. A. Holthouse, and a solo by Miss Pauline Britzenhofe. Mrs. Harold Hoffman was the program leader. Following the business meeting, lovely refreshments were served by the committee. Decorations were in, keeping with the holiday theme.

MRS. LOIS BLACK HAS DINNER PARTY Mrs. Lois Black entertain with a turkey dinner Wednesday for Miss Eva Acker, of San Jose, Calif. Christmas candles lighted the beautifully appointed tables. The guest-list included Mrs. Charles Knapp, Mrs. C. A. Dugan, Mrs. J. C. Sutton, Sr., Mrs. Harry Moltz, Mrs. John Heller. Mrs.' D. W. Hensley, Mrs. Roy Archbold, Mrs. L. A Graham, Mrs.- O. L. Vance, Mrs. Fred Heuer and Mrs. Fred Patterson. Prizes in brige were awarded Mrs. Vance and Mrs. Sutton. PYTHIAN SISTERS ELECT NEW OFFICERS The Pythian Sisters held the regular meeting Monday evening at which time the following officers were elected: most excellent chief, Lillie Hammond; past chief, Madge Lobsiger; excellent senior, Von Reber; excellent junior, Helen Sauer; manager, Harriet Pollock; mistress of records and correspondence, Anna Hancher; mistress of finance, Velma Porter; protector, Pauline Beery; outer guard, Emma Lou Ahr; trustee, three years, Alice Christen; representative to grand temple, Grace Weiland; alternate. Ollie Butler; representative to district convention, Madge Lobsiger; alternate, Lillie Hammond; press correspondent. Ruth Hollingsworth; degree captain, Mary Ahr. The next meeting will be held December 22. The Installation of new officers will be held in January, with Phoebe Hite as the installing officer. GECODE CLUB HAS DINNER PARTY The 'annual Christmas dinner party of the Gecode club was held Tuesday evening at the C. L. of C. hall. The long table was decorated with white candles, tied with bells and surrounded with sprigs of evergreen. Bells also hung from the ceiling to complete the theme “Bells at Christmas.” A lighted tree, the centerpiece, was given to Mildred Geiiner. Santa Claus favors marked each place, with tiny crystal and gold earrings filling the miniature pack. The Santa Claus candles were awarded to Betty Moran, Effie McGill and Helen Wellman. Following the turkey dinner, Jeanne Hoffman gave a recitation, entitled “Hats,” and her brother, | Jimmy, recited “Teddy Bear.” j Little Betty Mattox and Jimmy Gay sang "It Came upon the Midnight Clear” and “Jingle Bells,” following which a solo, “Jesu Bombino,” was sung by Miss Margene Bauer, a Decatur high school student. Gretchen Zintsmaster closed the program by reciting “The Night Before Christmas” and singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Santa Claus then appeared and distributed the exchange gifts to the members. Due to the illness of Miss Marcia Martin. Ilene Morrison had charge of the party, and was assisted by Hilda Staley, Florence Brandyberry, Caroline Boroff, Evelyn Kelly. Reva Stauffer, Lillie Hammond, Charlotte Gephart and | Annabelle Gehrig. The night shift Gecode club held • its dinner party Wednesday noon at the C. L. of. C. hall. Decorations of the hall were identical to those used at the day shift party. Door prizes .were won by Pat Myers,| Rita Smitley and Doris Garboden. The committee in charge included Tye Frye, chairman, Helen Fairchild, Deola Foreman, June Agler and Marie Coffelt. MONROE BETTER HOMES CLUB MEETS The Monroe Better Homes club 1 met at the home of Mrs. Martin Hoffman recently, with thirty six l members and two guests present. Thieves opened a wall safe in Chester school in Wells county Tuesday night and secured $390 irt cash and $493 in checks. It was the third safe robbery in Wells county in three days. Flame club, honorary orgapization for independent upper-class-men at Indiana university, has pledged Robert W. Kohne. Decatur, university junior. Mr. Kohne was one of thirty-two men pledged by she club, selected because of their leadership, service and loyalty. a broken left arm above the elbow and a cut on her forehead. Mrs. Peterson was taken to the Adams county memorial hospital. , Her condition is not regarded as serious. The forehead cut was received in the fall when her glasses : were broken. A passing motorists i stopped before striking Mrs. Peterson after she fell.

Lewis Smith To Head Presbyterian Men Lewis Smith,Uocal attorney, was elected president of the Presbyterian Men’s club last evening at a business session following the program for ladles' night given in the church parlors. Robert Macklin was chosen vice president, Clark Smith secretary and Stanley Clark treasurer. The club plans a busy year. The program for ladies night included a half hour of special music by the Decatur high school glee club in charge of Miss Helen Haubold. with Mrs. Harry Dailey at the* piano. Mrs. Clara Porter Yarnell of Fort Wayne gave an interesting talk and reading on “Book Reading.” using quotations from many old and new volumns and telling of the genuine delight and comfort that comes from reading. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served in the church basement following the program.
