Jackets Rally To Score Fourth Victory In Row Suddenly coming to life midway through the third quarter, the Decatur Yellow Jackets registered their fourth victory in a row Tuesday night, defeating the Hoagland Wildcats, 36 to 27, at the Hoagland gym. The Jackets, after seeing their two-point lead of 15-13 at halftime disappear into a 21 to 15 margin for Hoagland, came back with a rush to take command of the contest and win going away. With the regular starting five playing only fair ball. Sent back into the ball game after Hoagland had this 21 to 15 lead, the Jackets began to speed up the game and soon roared out in front. Holding the Wildcats scoreless. Decatur chipped in with a pair of rapid fire baskets by McElhaney and Grant’s free throw to go in front by 22 to 21. Holmes and McElhaney hit from the field before Mclntosh counted a foul toss for Hoagland. McElhaney then l it his fourth fielder of the period to give Decatur a 28 to 22 lead at the end of the quarter. The Wildcats connected for only one field goal after the Jackets launched their winning rally, Hawkins hitting a two-pointer in the final minute of play. McElhaney topped *the Decatur scorers with 13 points on six field goals and a free throw, while Holmes, playing one of the best games of his career, chipped in with five fielders for 10 points. Zelt was Hoagland’s top scorer with 12 points. The Yellow. Jackets will enter tain the Monroe Bearkatz at the Decatur gym Friday night.
