Williams, director - attorney of the Fort Wayne area rent office, pointed out today the requirement under the housing and rent act of 1947, that landlords and tenants who desire to enter into leases under which the landlord is entitled to a 15 percent increase in rent and the tenant is entitled to possession through the year 1948, must .negotiate such leases not later than December 31, 1947. The act specifically limits this privision from the effective date. July 1, 1947, to December 31, 1947. During the months of January and February, until the act expires, February 29, 1948, no leases under this section of the law would be effective to increase the rent.
