Verdict Os Suicide In Teacher’s Death Woman Apparently Strangled Self Efingham, N. H., Nov. 19. —(UP) —A verdict of suicide was returned today in the bizarre strangulation of Miss Marie Lysle, 51-year-old Indiana schoolteacher, who vanished near here Sept. 6. In announcing the verdict, medical referee Francis J. C. Dube of Center Ossipee said there was a “preponderance of evidence” to indicate the woman had hanged herself. The nude body was found here Saturday. It lay beneath a small poplar tree in a field, the neck still encircled by a strip of heavy cloth which apparently had caused strangulation at least two months before. Dube said the woman apparently choked herpelf to death by binding her neck to the trunk of the small tree after either burning or hiding her clothing. In addition to facts disclosed by anautopsy, Dube said he had >re- ’•> ceived medical testimony from Indiana that supported his verdict. Dr. Alan R. Moritz, Massachusetts state pathologist who was called into the investigation, yesterday filed a preliminary report which authorities desribed as “consistent* with suicide.” They said Dr. Moritz would file a complete report within five days. Miss Lysle, a native of Beverly Shores, Ind., disappeared while en route from Pittsfield, where she had contracted to teach school, to Ossipee to visit a friend. Investigators said she was last seen four miles from the field where the body was found by a hunter. _o _ SF/DDD Means Stocksdale’s Fresh - Delicious Downyflake Do-Nuts. 272t5
