Michigan And Wisconsin To Meet Saturday Chicago, Nov. 10 —(UP) —The Wisconsin Badgers and the Michigan Wolverines, each unbeaten in Big Nine play and Michigan one ot ‘ the few remaining undefeated clubs in the nation, possibly will settle the Big Nine championship at Madison Saturday. If Michigan wins, the conference race will be over so far as the title is concerned, and the remaining games will be played strictly for the partisan fans of each school. The Wolverines then would have a record of five Big Nine triumphs and no defeats. Wisconsin would be in second place with three victories, one loss and one tie, but even if Michigan lost to Ohio State in the season’s finale, Wisconsin by beating Minnesota couldn’t pull into a deadlock for the championship. An early season 7-7 tie with Indiana, which counts as half a game lost and half a gome won, would leave the Badgers a half game off the Wolverine pace. If Wisconsin should capture the Michigan contest, though, the Badgers could go on to win the Big Nine championship as well by downing Minnesota. A victory in that final clash would give Wiscinsin a final mark of five triumphs, no losses and one tie, while Michigan, even by defeating Ohio State, would finish with five wins and one loss. Other Big Nine games Saturday are lillinois at Ohio State, Marquette at Indiana, Minnesota at lowa, Notre Dame at Northwestern and Pittsburgh at Purdue. The past Saturday, in addition to the Michigan-Indiana contest, Wisconsin pulverized lowa, 46 to 14; Minnesota downed Purdue, 26 to 21; and Ohio State edged Northwestern, 7 to 6. Illinois defeated Western Michigan, 60' to 14, in a non-league clash. Wisconsin won going away. Jug Girard made punt returns of 63 and 85 yards for touchdowns. Drives of 70 and 80 yards were good for two more and lowa never threatened. Michigan scored in six minutes against Indiana on a 73 yard march. Later they covered 59 yards, 72 yards and 95 yards for touchdowns and meanwhile held the Hoosier star. George Taliaferro. In perfect check. Minnesota let Purdue pull to a I nine point advantage, but Billy 1 Bye, the Gopher speedster back, took care of the triumph. He romped 26 yards for a touchdown which left Minnesota two points behind, and then he scampered 68 yards for the winning tally. Northwestern scored early in the fourth period and Ohio State late, after penalties on the Wildcats kept the game going, more penalties gave Emil Moldea a second chance to kick the point after touchdown. He missed on the first, made the second and that was the ball game. Western Michigan had nothing to throw against Illinois, and the Illini won easily.
