Chicago Newspapers Charge 'Slowdown' Publishers Charge Slowdown By Union .■ Chicago, Oct. 29.—(UP) — The Chicago newspapers association planned to meet today with representatives of the Chicago typographical union (AFL) to discuss an alleged “slowdown” by composing room employes. , The publishers said that the I alleged slowdown had caused the first editions of the Wednesday j Chicago Sun and the Chicago Tribune, morning newspapers, to j reach newstands more fttSW an I hour late today. It was the secj ond consecutive day the first ediI tions were delayed. I John J. Piloh, president of the ! union, disclaimed any knowledge 1 of the slowdown but said he was investigating the complaint. The Publishers association, representing the Sun. Times. Daily News, Tribune, Herald American and Journal of Commerce, protested the alleged action in a telej gram last night.
