' Indiana Doctors In Annual Convention I Need Os Additional Hospital Beds Cited French Lick, Ind., Oct. 29 —(UP) —Scientific and professional problems of Indiana physicians were on the agenda of the 98th annual convention of the Indiana state medical association today. Among professional proposals that occupied the doctors today was one that all four years of the Indiana university medical school be located in Indianapolis, instead of the present arrangement where freshmen are taught at Bloomington and the last three classes at the medical center in the capital city. Dr. Leroy E. Burney, state health commissioner, recommended that the doctors urge establishment of some 8,000 additional hospital beds in Indiana. Burney said that there are 7,200 “acceptable” hospital beds in the state now, with 2,500 more Which are listed as “unacceptable” by state board of health standards. Burney presented a plan for small health centers in communities and rural areas which now lack hospital facilities, supplemented with ten regional hospitals in the major population centers of the state. The afternoon program was divided into five fields of specialization, with leading Indiana physicians reading papers on the latest advancements in medicine, surgery, anesthesia, general practice, and otolarngology. 0 Picks Strawberries From Garden Today Fresh grown strawberries in October — that is the claim of Leonard Soliday, 728 High street, who proudly exhibited several ripe berries, picked fresh from his garden before breakfast this morning.
