Global Vacation Is Offered In Contest Hundreds of prizes, valued at more than $14,000 and including a trip around the world on a Pan American Airways Clipper with all expenses paid for two, will headline the Rexall drug company’s forthcoming nation-wide one-cent sale contest, it was announced today by Elmo Smith, proprietor of the Smith Drug Co., Rexall Drug Store at Decatur. Open to anyone in the U. S., the contest will be held in conjunction with the four-day original one-cent sale in 10,000 Rexall drug stores from Oct. 15 to 18. Entrants will be required to complete, in 50 words or less, the sentence, “I prefer Rexall products because The world trip, which will take approximately two weeks, will include stop-overs in such cities as London, Paris, Istanbul, Manila and Honolulu, Mr. Smith said. Alternate prize, he added, is $5,000. Second prize is a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with stop-overs at Mexico City, Balboa and Port of Spain and a four-day stay at Rio’s famous Copacabana Hotel. Third place winner will be awarded a trip to Honolulu with a week’s vacation at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Alternate prizes are $2500 and SIOOO respectively. All trips will be made on Pan American Airways Clipper planes and all expenses will be paid for two, according to an announcement by Rexall. Stepnagle Dies At Chillicothe Mrs. S. D. Beavers has received a letter and clipping from Mrs. Euphemia Burns of Chillicothe, Ohio, a cousin of her late husband, Dr. Beavers. The newspaper item tells of the death of Edward L. Stepnagle. 79, banker, wholesale hardware dealer and civic leader. He was a brother of the late Richard Stepnagle, former pastor of the First Presbyterian church here, who died in Loe Angles a few' weeks ago. The deceased was the last of six brothers of the family. His wife died 13 months ago. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Allen Macßeth. with whom he made his home, and a son, Edward, Jr., of Scarsdale, N. Y. Funeral services were conducted at Chillicothe last Monday by the Rev. Harold Weir of the First Presbyterian church of which the deceased wae a member. 0 Children are the most frequent victims of fire, with children under five accounting for 20 percent of all fire fatalities.

wrest Three Youths On Traffic Charges Face Arraignment In Court This Evening Three youths arc to be arraigned in Floyd B. Hunter’s justice of peace court tonight to answer to charges preferred against them by city police in weekend traffic arrests, police chief Ed Miller reported today. Rolland Scherry, 19. and Irvin Worthman, 20. both of Decatur, route two, will face charges of reckless driving, placed against them by prosecutor Myles F. Parrich, upon affidavits signed by officers Robert Hill and Roy Chilcote. The officers charge that the two youths were “racing” in their cars on Adams street about 12:05 a. m. Sunday. Marvin Beery, 20, route two, Decatur, was arrested about 12:30 a. m. the same day at Thirteenth and Monroe streets, where the officers charge he failed to stop for a stop sign on a preferential highway. All arraignments are scheduled for 8 p. m. 0 More than 3,000 persons die in rural fires each year.
