Opposes Shelving Os Vets Hospitals Legion Commander Opposes Proposal Washington, Sept. z7. —(UP) — James F. O’Neil, national commander of the American Legion, has denounced as “selfish and short-sighted” a proposal that congress pigeonhole veterans’ hospital construction projects. He said in a statement that the Legion would renew its efforts for new hospital construction by prodding both congress and the veterans administration. The legion is diametrically opposed to the plan to shelve such building, as proposed in a resolution passed Thursday by the American hospital association convention at St. Louis, O'Neil said. “The American Legion appreciates fully the problems of private hospitals and is vitally interested in the maintenance of their superior standards,” he added. “But
