All members are urged to attend as achievement day plans will be made, and the program planned fur the year. The Historical club will have its opening meeting of the club year Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Kirchhofer, Geneva, are parents of a son, born at 9:29 p.m. Friday at the Adams county memorial hospital. He has not been named. A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dove, Berne, Friday night at 9:29 o’clock at the local hospital. She has not been named. Home Ec Clubs At Berne Fall Festival Berne. Ind., Sept. 27—The home economics clubs of Adams county will stage two programs at the Berne auditorium next week in connection with the Berne fall festival. October 2, 3 and 4. On the evening of October 2 they will stage a dress revue and the county home economics chorus, directed by Mrs. Martin Neuenschwander, will sing. The following evening, Friday. October 3, the ladies will put on a stunt night. Home economics exhibits will be on display all three days at the auditorium. o Peter P. Schwartz Dies In Michigan Berne, Ind., Sept. 27 — The funeral for Peter P. Schwartz, 80, a native and former resident of this community, was held today at his home near Sturgis, Mich., where he died Thursday. ” Burial was in I the Amish cemetery near Nottawa.

pJohn DeVoas made n trip to Fort Wayne Friday. Four students from Decatur have enrolled in university for the winter semester. They are William W. Bromer, Charles William Freeby, Barbara Ann Maddox and Marjorie Anne Schnepf. Dr. Richard K. Parrish ie remodeling the residence recently purchased from the Mrs. Miller estate on South Second street. It will be converted into a two-apartment building, Dr. Parrish retaining the office building for his own use. Donald Hughes, fieh and game director for Indiana, has banned the shooting of pheasants in the state for a year. Unfavorable spring weather the past two years has reduced the population of the birde to eight in 1,000 miles, he says. Letters from Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Helm, Coral Gables, Fla., say they didn’t mind the recent breezes too much and declare the storm was not an severe as several they have witnessed during the 22 years they have lived in Florida. Mrs. Helm aided in Red Cross work during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. A salute to Decatur will be given in a radio program over station WGL, Fort Wayne at 12:15 o’clock Monday afternoon. It is the first in a series inaugurated by the Farnsworth station. The above picture shows Mayor and Mrs. John B. Stults at their home in this city as the Mayor was interviewed by William T. Davies of the broadcasting company. A recording of the interview was made for Monday's program. Decatur people are invited to tune-in at 1250 on their radio dial.
Troop I Girl Scout troop I enjoyed a picnic Wednesday evening at Hanna Nuttman park. Election of officers took place during the brief business meeting. Agnee Werst was elected president, Marilyn Hoblet, secretary, Donna Kirchenbauer, treasurer, and Nancy Callow scribe. Mother Os Berne Teacher Is Dead Berne, Ind., Sept. 27 Mrs. Elizabeth S. Renner, 66, of Portland, mother of Everett "Luke” Renner, Berne high school teacher, died suddenly from a heart attack at her home Thursday. She was found dead by a neighbor lady. Quits As Manager Os Berne Grocery Berne, Ind., Sept. 27—Homer “Doc” Goodin, manager of the local Kroger store for the past 19 years, has resigned hi# position, effective today. Goodin has accepted a position with Foodtown, large local grocery, as manager of the grocery and produce departments. Noah L. Habegger is manager of the store. Goodin’s successor at Kroger store has not been named.
