Draw Schedule For National Moose Tourney Pairings for the nine-team Moose national softball tournament were made' Thursday. The tourney will be held at the new Zollner stadium in Fort Wayne Saturday and Sunday. The Decatur Moose, Indiana champions, will make their first tourney start at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, meeting Ludington, Mich. The tourney will open at 11 a.m. tomorrow, with Dayton, 0., meeting Elwood City. Pa. Ithaca, N. Y., will meet Berkley, W. Va., at 12:30 p in., followed by the Decatur-Lud-ington match at 2 o’clock. Des Moines. la., will be matched against St. Cloud, Minn., at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday's play will wind up at 5 p m„ with Decatur. 111., playing the winner of the Dayton-Elwood City tilt. Semifinals will be played Sunday at 2 and 3:30 p.m., with the national championship battle at 8:30 p.m. No admission will be charged for the Saturday games, with tickets priced at $1.20 for adults and 60 cents for children good for both Sunday sessions. Sunday night's final will be preceded by an hour-long program featuring the two Decatur high school bands, the Dayton, 0., Moose national championship band; the junior drum and bugle corps from Dearborn, Mich., and Moose drill •earns, including Decatur. A big fireworks display will be presented immediately following the title game. Led by three busses transporting the Decatur bands, a big motor caravan will leave the Moose home at 12:30 p.m. Sunday for the tournament. Tickets for Sunday s games are on sale at the Moose home. Decafur Youngsters Beat Central, 6-0 The Decatur freshman-sophomore football team, making its first i start of the season Thursday afterI noon, punched over the only touchdown of the game in the final quarter to defeat the Fort Wayne Central freshmen-sophomores, 6 to 0, at Worthman field. The winning touchdown started with Decatur in possession of the ball near midfeld as the fourth quarter opened. After Decatur made one first down, Bair punted to the Central 17-yard line. Central was forced to kick, and a 15-yard penalty against the junior Tigers, a pass to Stucky and Smith’s run carried the ball to the Central 17. A slugging penalty against Cen-j tral took the ball to the Central] two-yard mark, and Smith dove over the line on a quarterback sneak for the touchdown. Zollners Undefeated In National Tourney Cleveland, Sept. 19 — (UP) — The Fort Wayne, Ind., Zollners and the Hanford, Cal., Kings both boasted perfect records today in world softball tournament and headed for a showdown game scheduled Saturday. Fort Wayne, the defending champion in the tourney, defeated the Washington Kavakos grill team, 6-1, last night in a one-sid-ed battle. That gave the champs a record of three victories and no defeats in the tournament, bringing them up to a tie with Hanford, also unbeaten in three starts. The two teams meet tomorrow night to determine which will represent the higher listing in the Sunday finale - o Monmouth Eagles Defeat Commodores The Monmouth Eagles edged out the Decatur Commodores, 11 to 10, in a softball game played Thursday afternoon at the Monmouth diamond. 1

Legion Wins First Suburban Playoff The Decatur Legion softball team edged out a 5 to 4 victory over Roanoke in the first game of a series, played Thursday I night at Zanesville. The game was the first in 'the playoff for the second half title of the Suburban league. The second tilt will be played tonight at Roanoke at 9 o’clock, and in event Roanoke evens the series, the third and decisive tilt will nt*, played at Zanesville Saturday. Winner of this playoff will meet Ossian next week for the Suburban league title, Ossian having copped th* first hah. Decatur and Roanoke weie tied at 4-4 going into the last of the seventh inning last night. Decatur had one man on. with two out. Mel Ladd bounced one to third and was called safe at first when the first baseman juggled the ball. Smith, who was fired last month from a state job, today confirmed reports of his resignation as Wells county Republican central committee chairman. A new chairman was to be named today. Smith said he had written his resignation to Roy Jorg, Ligonier, GOP district chairman. At Mobile, Ala., wind velocity reached 70 miles an hour at 4 a. m. and the 2,000 persons living on Bayou La Bat re, south of town, were evacuated because of expected high tides. Some power lines were torn down in the city and windows were broken.
