Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meyer have returned from a two weeks' vacation in the eastern part of Ohio where they visited relatives and fi lends. Harve I-ammiman, of Atlanta. Ga.. a former Decatur resident, is visiting here several days with relatives and friends before moving north for a vacation Trip. Miss Janice Feasel spent yesterday at Lake James at the Christen cottage. Elisha Merriman, of Blue Creek township, who was severely injured several weeks ago when he fell from a load of hay, has recovered sufficiently to be out again but still hae to be careful. The Rev. Leona Troutner. of Willshire, 0., a patient at Adams county memorial hospital, is reported much improved. She has been sick the past year. Mr. and Mrs. Al Schiffli and son. Bob, returned to their home in Washington. Ind., after spending several days at the T. J. Metzler home. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Butler and daughter. Mary Jo, spent Wednesday in Chicago. County Councilman Omitted From List The name of Henry Dehner, county councilman, was unintentionally omitted from a list of city and county officials who attended a special meeting earlier this week to discuss the proposed installation of a two-way police radio in Decatur for the use of both law enforcement agencies. — Drunken Driving Case Slated Here The trial of Clyde O. Man Confesses To Killing War Bride Former Bombardier Admits Strangling Colorado Springs. Colo., July 23 — (VP) — Authorities said they will file murder charges today against David A. Downey. 29. former army bombardier who confessed strangling his pretty Czech wnr bride. Downey broke down yesterday and confessed after being questioned by authorities for a week. He admiteed that he killed his 24-year-old wife. Loly. on a mountainside “in a fit of passion.” He previously told police she sad slipped off a cliff but authorities contended she died of strangulation. Downey said he committed the slaying “on the-spur of the moment.” "We had been arguing." he said. "We were always arguing. She was a leftist and her ideas didn’t jibe with mine. ”1 had a rock the size of two teacups In my hand and I struck her on the back of the head. She fell down and I put my left arm around her neck and choked her.” Downey said he plated her body on the mountain slope where he first claimed she had fallen. In his oral confession, the wavyhaired veteran refused to reveal what the fatal argument was Previously. he had told undersheriff Henry Clark that It would be "an awfully dirty, black story."
