■Creamed Ct] | Lesson Creamed Comment* on the SunJ day fkhool Lesson. A .Man Whose I Name Waa Job. Job 11; 27:14; 31:19-28 for Munday. July 6 The neat quarter's lesson will be based on the whdom literature of the Bible The first three lesions will be from the book of Job ■ The |e**on for today is on Job's moral integrity. The purpose of the book ot Job is not so rntt'h an explanation of the problem of the suffering of the righteous a* It Is of faithfulness to God and main- , tainlng moral integrity in all cir ■ umelance* V 1. "There was a man ill the land of Uz whore name was Job: and that man was perfect and upright. and one that feared God and eschewed evil." Here in one verse is Job's biography The strongest word n describing < haracter was the word "perfect." This word doe* not mean absolute perfection because human nature is Imperfect but it means a perfect strlv Ing, perfer t motives, wholehearted i i desire; this inner quality of life 1 when expressed makes a man up right The fear of God attributed 10 Job or to any other man is that profound devotion and loyalty to God that makes a fear in the sense that possibly one has not lived his best in the sight of God. lOf c ourse fearing God does not I tolerate In the slightest form the I smallest evil. V. 1 .Moreover, Job continued' | his parable and said; "Job's last' I speech answering his accusers cov- , ■era the next five chapters. Vs. 2. .1, 4 "As God liveth, who 1 hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; all the while my breath b in me. and the spirit of God is my nostrils; my lips shall not speak wi< kedness, nor my | tongue utter deceit. In the last) statement Job slates his determined purpose. He’ will not deviate from this purpose though God should intervene as indicated in verse 2 for there Is born within ' him the very spirit of God as seen in the third verse V. 5. "God forbid that I should justify you, until I die I will noil remove mine integrity from me."| Oup Preacher “I did not mean to do It" Is often 11 poor explanation of bad conduct Some time in the past you were wilfully selfish; selfish acts were repealed until they became auto mafic; then It was that the will became submerged, and you fell, when a wrong wa- done unconsd;ou*iy. that it was a reasonable extnse to say. "I did not mean it.” But you meant it the first time. There Is no hope for the race unless democracy can l>e sanctified and controlled by Uhristlan, moral, and spiritual ideal*. —o The secret of being loved is thoughtfulness. ♦teMtelilHlllllilllllU

So long as be lives, Job Insist* be will not cease to maintain hl* innocence This thought is repeated in th- next verae—"My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let go; my heart shall not reproa' h me so long as I shall live." Such rnen can not be defeated Vs. It, 20, 21, 22. "If I have seen any parish for want of clothing. or any poor without covering; if his loin* have not blessed me. and If he Were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep, if I have lifted up my hand against the fath erless, when I saw my help In the gate; then let my arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone." If Job's Integrity in caring for all kinds of destitute Is not sustained then he I* willing to suffer the severest punishment In the dismemberment of hl* body Being wealthy by hi* riche* he could have been an oppressor Job challenges hl* accuser* to make a case against him i A good man has a good record. V. 23. "For destruction from God was a terror to me. and by reason of his highness I could not endure" Though Jobs integrity was an outflow of God s spirit within I yet had this not been true, he would have stood In awe of the majestic God, and the fear of punI Ishment would have restrained [ him. V. 21 "If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold. Thou art my confidence:" Though 1 very wealthy. Job did not trust in his riches V. 25. “If I rejoiced because my wealth was great and because; mine hand had gotten much:" Job feels that even to rejoice in material possessions would be ■ wrong. In this he reveals a keen J moral discernment. Each one must i decide which power will reign I within, the power of gold or the ' power of God Vs. 26, 27. "If I beheld the sun when it shined or the moon walking in brightness; and my heart hath been secretly entLed, or my nouth hath kissed my hand:" worshipping the sun was a common practice as was also worshipping ' the moon To have made the slightest gesture in such worship, such as throwing a kiss to the sun, he would have considered himself guilty. Absolute moral integrity gives to place for the least disloyalty to God to Job meant a I loyally ot God to Job meant a 1 denial that the true God is the | only God. Solway What Makes You Go?
