Jury Finds Youthful Murderer Is Insane 16*Year-Old Boy To Mental Institution St. Joseph, Mo., June 11 (I*l*l Stuart B. Allen. 16. font er eon of an EplKciipallan minister. said today a Jury's decision acquitting him ot murder because of criminal insanity was "quite perfect." The Jury found Allen innocent by reason ot insanity of the murder ot John Frank. H-year-old seston of his father's church, and recommended that he be sentenced to a mental institution. Con vic Hon would have meant the death penalty or life imprisonment. Ironically, circuit Judge Duval Smith now must commit Allen to the state mental hospital at St. Joseph, operated by Dr. George Forman, superintendent, who testified during the trial that Alien was sane. Allen paled when the verdict was read, but composed himself and nonchalantly waved at the crowd. "The verdict was quite perfect," he said. "I was a little scared for a while there." The Jury found that Allen was insane now and on April 1 when he admittedly bludgeoned Frank to death with a hammer and drilled holes In his body to "make sure" he was dead. Smith was expected to hand down a commitment order today or tomorrow, lie said Forman could have Allen transferred to to another institution, if he so desired. During a court recess yesterday two teenaged girls asked Allen for his autograph, lie started to comply, but a bailiff ordered him to "move along.* Alien walked on and did not look back at the girls During his trial, the defense c laimed Allen was the victim of a split personality on the one hand, a brilliant student who loved music and flowers, on the other a maniac who identified himself with a mystery story murderer. It was the second personality that vested him with an "uncontrollable urge to kill," they said. The cirv. James 8. Allen, the youth's foster father, sat beside him as the verdict was read Defense counsel R. A. Brown. Jr., said: "I feel that Justice has been s Brown said the boy's foster parents were determined "never to seek Stuart's freedom" 0 Trade In Decatur
