(Vl’t Ihdcn-e counsel offered today to remove a bullet front the back of Mary Catherine Reardon, 14. in .ill effort to prove th.it she did not murder her wealthy father. Defense attorney Henry fl. and stood ealmly before the jury. Morris rolled tip the sleeve of her green sweeter to show the Jury small scars, where he said the bullet entered. Mary Catherine then pulled up her sweater and exhibited two more scars on her under arm and armpit Dr. Victor J. Mfanbardt. a de sense witness, identified the scars as the healed bullet wounds he found when he examined the girl five days after the shooting. St. Units county prosecuting at torney Stanley Wallack requested the court appoint a physician and an X-ray specialist to provide Impartial testimony on the bullet. Circuit judge John A. Witthaus took the motion under advisement Morris said the one bullet caused all three scars and said it was fired from the same J3S mm Mau-er i. tomatlc which the has identified as the murder weapon. He said, if necessary, the bullet would be removed by an operation, to prove his contention. In his opening statements to the jury Morris said that D’Arcy was a "pal of Al Capone" and was friendly with "gamblers who operated out of a garage" near his , former home. Two school mates of the boy i testified that Michael boasted of knowing Capone and had described him ax "a good guy." They said also that D'Arcy kept a revolver in a locker at school. 0 Gory Newsboy Is Electrocution Victim — (•ary. Ind.
