Yellow Jackets Defeat Hartford Citi

Jackets Score Win In Final Home Contest I Decatur's Yellow Jacket* dosed their home season on a victorious note Tuesday night, defeating the Hartford City Airdales. 34 to 28, at the Decatur gym Decatur’s remaining two game* of the regular season will be played on the road, at Berne Friday and at Portland the following Friday. Hillard drew first blood when he hit a medium-length shot hut McColly put Hartford City in the lead for the only time during the entire game when he drove over twice in rapid succession for two fielder*. Ballard's free throw and a long one-hander by Schnepf put the Jackets in front. 5 to 4. and Decatur counted six more points while the Airdales stood still to give th? Jackets an 11 to 4 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Buckets by Schnepf and Holmes increased this margin to 11 points before Hartford could score again, this time <>n a tip-in by Hrown. hut after the Airdales whittled this margin down to four points, the Jackets again took command and held a 24 to 10 margin at the intermission. Both teams were as cold as n dog’s nose during the entire third quarter, each team counting only three points in the period, with four of the point* coming in the tost minute of the quarter when Davis ami Lehman traded baskets. The Jackets put the game pretty well on ice early in the final period, holding a 33 to 20 Jead when half the quarter had expired. A late flurry by Hartford cut the final margin to six points Hchnepf's 11 points Jed the Yellow Jackets. 10 of these markers coming in the first half. Berne Bears Nosed Out Tuesday Night The . Berne Bears, after leading practically the entire ball game, weakened in ths closing minutes Tue-duy night to drop a 38 to 37 decision to the Dunkirk Speedcats on the Berne court.
