Former Judge Earl Cox of Marlon circuit court made the original ruling on the case In Heptember, 1945. The Indiana order of Odd Fellows, Grand Uxlge Hall Association, appealed the case to the supreme court. The 1937 law states that all property owned by lodges, holding groups, and similar organisation* is subject to taxation unless It is used for the exclusive purposes of the group.
