Afghanistan Area Returned To Reds Kushka Returned In Frontier Agreement London, June 14.—(UP)—Afghanistan has returned to Rusula (he rugged border district of Kushka. <n the ancient invasion route from the middle east to India, under a Soviet-Afghan frontier agreement. the Moocow newspaper livestla announced today. Kushka Iles at the strategic corner where Iran. Afghanistan and the extreme southernmost tip of the Soviet union a corner of the Turkmen Soviet Republic meet. The district was awarded t> Afghanistan in the Soviet-Afghan treaty of 1931. The new Soviet-Afghan agreement. signed in Moscow by V. M. Molotov and Afghan ambaosador Sultan Ahmed Khan, re-define* one' of the world's most iemote yet potentially Important frontiers. June It (UPt A broken wooden club and a torn jacket bearing what appeared to b* trewh blood were- found In the h ;ine of Ford Ashcraft, 38, war veteran, who said his wife was killed by a railroad train In an unfulfilled aniclde pact, police said today. A coroner’s jury recommended yesterday that Ashcraft, a garage mechanic, be held to the grand jury for murder. He was taken to th* county jail at Waukegan. 111. The jury acted after Ashcraft said he entered into a suicide pact with his wife, drove their car onto the railroad tracks and then "lost my nerve" at th* lust moment. The jury und police were confronted with several mystifying facts, in addition to the club and jacket. Ashcraft admitted under questioning that he was In love with a 17-year-old girl formerly employed in his home. He said he had taken out life ItMUrance recently for himself and his wife. Ashcraft testified that he and his wife, Lucille, 38, the mother of five children, stopped their automobile on the track* Tuesday night in front of a Chicago and North Western train. He said they had agreed to commit suicide after a quarrel over his going with other women.
As the train bore down on them, Aohcraft said, h* unclasped his arms from almut his wife, and jumped from the car shouting, “leap, honey.” “I heard the train whbitle and mw the wigwag signal start working he said. "I don't know what happened to me then." He said he turned as he ran and saw his wife elide over into the driver's seat and thought she was following him.
