Maqnavox Plant Is Closed By Strike Fort Wayne, Ind., Aug. 27 (UP) —A strike forced the Magnavox plant in Fort Wayne to cease operations Saturday, and so far all negotiations between local 910, United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America (CIO) and the management have failed. The union charged that the company had not kept faith with its employes, and the management, contrary to the (statement of the union, said that hourly wage increases would he placed in effect as soon as approval is forthcoming from the War Labor Board. Tho union said that they did not believe that WLB sanction wiw necessary in view of President Truman's liberalized wage policy providing for wage increases where no price policy is involved. There are 53 towns in Arkansas counted by the official census as "cities," with a total population for the 53 towns of 431,910. New Plane Purchased By Airport Manager Robert McComb, manager of the McComb Field, located just beyond the western city limits, north of , U. S. highway 224, has purchased a new Aeronca trainer plane, which will be based at the field for solo flight operations. Manager McComb staled his plane is identical to the one owned by members of the Decatur Aero club. This plane was used the past few weeks for student training. McComb pointed out that with the purchase of his plane, flight service to nearby cities will be available and that it will not be necessary for local persons to drive to other airports to obtain air service. Business and pleasure trips to other cities can now be given from McComb field, Mr. McComb •said.
