Charles G, Norris, Novelist, Is Dead Palo Alto, Calif., July 26 (UP) —Charles Gilman Norris, 63-year-old novelist, died in a hospital here late yesterday of a chronic heart ailment, Norris was stricken last summer in New York and hospitalized there. He returned to Palo Alto last fall and was living at La Estancia, the Norris* summer home at Saratoga when he entered the Palo Alto hospital six weeks ago. Brother of the author Frank Norris and husband of novelist Kathleen Thompson Norris, Norris was known as the author of the monosyllabic novels, “Brass,” "Bread," “Seed” and others. “ 1 ■ ■■■ ■ () ■■ ■ — ■ Driver Killed In Train-Truck Crash Greenfield, Ind., July 26—(UP) —’Harry Elsburg 25, driver for the Greenfield ice and fuel company, was killed yesterday in a trucktrain crash. Elsbury's truck was hit by a Pennsylvania passenger train. He died instantly.

Daniel Sprang, prominent Decatur man, who has been -eriautsly ill at the Adams county memorial hospital for several weeks, has been moved to the Castle convalescent home, 308 South Washington street, Van Wert, O. Mm. Willard Rohrer, of Detroit, who hais* been here for several weeks during the illness of her grandfather, Daniel Sprang, will return to her home the first of the week. 0 — — Filling Station And Truck Yards At Berne Work has started at the south edge of Berne on the construction of a filling station and truck freight yards by W. E. Petrie, local oil dealer, and L. A. Mason, of Columbia City, who al-o plan to build a restaurant in connection with the new business enterprise. The site is the triangular area between U. S. highway 27 and South 'Harrison street in Berne, terminating in the tip where these two roads meet about five blocks south of the Mi nnonite church. Plans call for a modern and attractive filling istation, with sufficient ground space to accomodate large freight trucks tnat travel over U. S. road 27. Mr. Petrie purchased Hit* Socony Vacuum oil stations in this city and Berne from Clarence Ziner. Went overseas last May. He is a graduate of Pleasant Mills high school and prior to his military service was employed at th*- General Electric. Mexican Injured In Accident Wednesday John Acampo, 39, a Mexican employed at the Central Soya plant, is a patient .in Adams county m '- inorial hospital as a result of injuries received last evening when his car. a 1930 Model-A Ford, was demolished. Acampo was driving west on state road 124 at a point about a mile west of Coppess Corner, according to reports, when his car crashed into a tree that had been cut and which fell across the road. Acampo was hurt about the chest and cut on the face. Full extent of the chest injuries will not be known until later, it was stated. The accident was reported to deputy sheriff Sam Bentz, who inve;-
