OBITUARY Vernon Neil, youngest son ot David and Elsie Penland Sovine, was born April 16, 1930 and departed this life in quiet sleep on July 13, 1945, at Pleasant Mills, age 15 years, 2 months' and 27 days. Vernon Neil suffered from an enlarged heart, condition most all of his life. All that human hands and medical care could do was done but he was never able to overcome this physical handicap. He attended the Pleasant Mills school but for the past two years was unable to attend due to poor health. He was a member of the Methodist Sunday school and lived a good Christian life. He was a boy of clean habits, fair in play, unselfish in act and deeds and a true cheerful friend to both young and old. He and the aged grandmother, who lives in the Sovine home, spent many happy hours together in conversation, hand work and play. Vernon was very quiet, not voicing his belief a great deal. He knew his physical condition and knew his going could come at any moment, yet he had no fear. He carried his Sunday school Bible with him at all times and his white Bible was his most treasured gift. He is preceeded in death by one sister, Betty Roselle. He leaves to mourn their loss, the aged grandmother, Mrs. Laurinda Penland: the parents; two brothers, Carol Wayne of Pleasant Mills and Sgt. Luther, now stationed in the Philippines; two sisters, Nina at home and Mrs. Melvin Dellinger of Pleasant Mills; one nephew, Jean Dellinger; one neice, Patty Sovine; one brotherin law and two sisters-in-law; besides a host of other relatives and friends. Asleep in Jesus, Oh how sweet Free from all sorrow and care Worries and troubles are over Gone to his mansion so fair. Folded now his tired hands

His task on earth is o’er. Tired were his weary feet Now anchored on Heaven's shore. It's true well miss his love and care The home is lonesome now, We'll bid farewell to him so dear And trust to God our Pal. Faintly we hear his tender voice Calling us over the tide. Faintly we see his loving face Safe by the Saviour’s side. “Let the circle be unbroken,” Seems we can hear him say "I'll be waiting at the Portals Where all tears are wiped away.’’ ' >1 ? t ? ' LITTLE Richard Sullivan, 2, show« here in the arms of his mother in their home in Worcester, Mass., has but 30 to 90 days to live according to doctors. The boy, suffering from leukemia, is believed to be the youngest victim of the dread blood disease. (International)
