Musical selections played by Mrs. Haulbold were “The, Hunting Song,” “Garden Dance,” "Coming Thru’ the Hye,’ "Dublin Town,” "Marching Song.” Mrs. Walter Krick sang “iDrink to Me Only With Thine Eyes,” "Loch Lomond," ‘Annie Laurie,” “All Through the Night,” “The Last Rose of Summer,” and “Believe .Me if All Those Endearing Young Charms.” Mrs, C. R. Saylors will be hostess to the clulb at the tinal meeting March 26. PYTHIAN SISTER NEEDLE club meets The Pythian Sister Needle clulb was entertained last evening at the K. of P. home after Temple. Hostesses were Mrs. G. V. Porter, Mrs. Harry Butler and Mrs. Sam Butler. The business meeting was presided over by the president, Mrs. Charles Beineke, after which ten games of bunco were played. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Fred Hammond and Mrs. William Barber. During the social hour, delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. The tables were decorated in keeping with St. Patrick's day and shamrocks were used as favors, which later were used as tallies for ibunco. MUSIC DEPARTMENT HAS MEETING MONDAY The Music department of the Decatur Woman’s club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Harold Grant on North Fifth street. During the business meeting Mrs. L. A. Holthouse was reelected chairman and Mrs. Lewis Litterer was elected secretary. Mrs. Litterer was chairman of the program, and during her absence Mrs. James Kocher, Jr., read her paper entitled “'Music Under the Big Top.” Delicious refreshments were served during the social hour by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. 'William Gass and Mrs. L. A. Holthouse. LEGION AUXILIARY HAS BUSINESS MEETING The American Legion auxiliary held their regular business meetat the Legion home Friday evening. Reports of the district meeting were given by Mrs. Frank Liniger and Mrs. Clinton Hersh. It was voted to donate fifty dollars to the

MARY JANE SMITH IS HONORED ON BIRTHDAY ’Mary Jane Smith was honored Monday afternoon at a party given by her mother, Mrs. Gerald Smith, the occasion being her seventh birthday anniversary. Games and contests were played and several prizes were awarded the winners. Refreshments were served from the dining room and cut-out-books were used as favors. Those present were Sarah Gerber. Sgt. Laughrey Os The Marines Receives Medical Discharge
Tech. Sgt. Harvey W. Laughrey, who was wounded in the battle ’on Tinian island in the Pacific last July, has received a medical discharge from the U. S. Marines, in which he served since August 1940. The discharged veteran is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess L. Laughrey of Monroe, and husband of Mrs. Edith Laughrey of this city. They reside at 224 '/j North Eleventh street. Marine Sgt. Laughrey took basic training at San Diego and served as an instructor in a communication school at New River, N. C., before going overseas in January 1944. He participated in several battles, including Roi and Namur and Kawejalein in the Marshalls, Saipan and Tinian in the Marianas. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the presidential citation and has the Asiatic and Pacific theater ribbons, the American and American Defense ribbons, with three battle stars. He also won the good conduct medal. Arriving in this country last November, Sgt. Laughrey w r as assisted her mother in serving refreshmen te. The Phila/thea class of the Baptist church will meet at the home of Mrs. C. E. Bell Thursday evening at seven thirty o’clock. The social hour will be in change of Mrtf. L. W. Merryman and a paper demonstration will be given by Mrs. Izora Roop. A nominating committee will also be appointed. Members are asked to notice the change of the day of the meeting. The Phoebe Bible class of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church will meet in the church parlors Thursday evening at seven thirty o’clock. Hostesses will be Mrs. Cletus Miller, Mrs. Forest Owens and Mrs. William Sanders. The St. Ann discussion group will meet Wednesday evening at seven thirty o’clock at the home of Mrs. Ralph Roop, 339 North Tenth street. Y. o Funbral Held For Former Local Man 'Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Bailey chapel at Huntington, with Rev. Clarence Durham in charge, for Scott W. Hughes, 63, a native of Decatur. He-was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes and was born here June 12, 1881. When a young man, Scott moved to Bluffton, where he was employed as foundryman and later engaged in the restaurant business. He moved, to Huntington some years ago and resided there at time of death. He was a veteran of the Spanish American war and had been in poor health some time. His death occurred at the Veteran’s hospital in Indianapolis Saturday night. Surviving are the widow, who was formerly'Miss Ida Bell Tester, a son, Claude of Huntington, a sister and four brothers. One sister, Mrs. Elsie Foulks, preceded him in death. o Ace Bomber Pilot Killed in Take-Off Manila, Mar. 13.— (UP) —Col. Richard W. Robinson, 25, one of the leading heavy bomber pitots in the Pacific, and his crew of 10 were killed in a take-off accident Jan. 21, headquarters announced today. The accident occurred as Robinson started to lead his "Red Raider” unit of Liberators against Formosa.
Auctioneer Begins Federal Prison Term South Bend, Ind., Mar. 13.—(UP) —Auctioneer Harold M. Steiner of Plymouth began an 18-month federal prison sentence today for violation of OPA ceilings in farm equipment sales. Federal Judge Luther M. Swygert imposed the sentence and a $3,000 fine. Swygert, before handing down sentence, termed Steinfer’s violations as "deliverate and willful."
