o—— Reports Nazi Army Is Low On Gasoline Base Information On Captured Documents With Keventh Army On Western Front, In •<■ 28. - tl'i'i Five press release* fi’om the seventh army public relations office suggested today that the German army may be out of gasoline by the middle of January. . The releases were based on captured documents, statements of prisoner* and 'information reaching headquarters." One quoted a ruptured chemist and oil man as saying that at the end of September the gasoline resen - equalled only six weeks consuinptioll but that acquistion of Slovakian stocks might have been adequate for another two months. Another prisoner, who had been in supply regiment, said the regimental truck company could handle only 60 ton* of supplies daily and that frequently the truck* ran out of gasoline and had to get help from passing vehicles. A : ci ond release described a caplured order I -ued by Field Marshal Karl Von Kundstedt for the western theater operations on "conservation of fuel.” The order was aimed at elimination of all n<»n-essentia I trips and decreed that no motor transports-1 tioti should be used where railroads' were available. It further decreed that essential nips where railroads were not available should be made in Diesel propelled or charcoal burning vehicles, reserving synth, lie gasoline strictly for combat. Th, third release quoted a recent message from a supply section to a German division ordering extreme consorvation of fuel add giving proriiy tq funks and anti-tank weapons. It also included an observation from a prisoner that "due io the shortage of fuel, vehicles, particularly self-propelled guns and other artillery, could move only a few hundred yard* " A captured memorandum from a German workshop company to an artillery battalion was quoted in a fourth release: "Over three weeks ago your battalion received 20 liters of gaso-

H»e with a promise to ratura it to us shortly. Please be kind enough to send the gasoline back as soon as possible Due to the shortage we can’t possibly do without it.” The hfth release said that information reaching seventh army headquarters revealed that due to the gasoline shortage the Germans had to cut the testing time for airplane engines from three hours to seven minutes and that lubricating oil not only was rationed in arms factories but was "cut 50 percent with waler." o Kokomo Mon Is Held For Slaying Nephew Kokomo.
