Dear Voter: Under ordinary conditions you should be entitled to meet and talk to every candidate for public office in your county. However, due to the gasoline and tire conservation program. I may not be able to see you before election day. November 7. That you may make up your mind, and that there can be no possible misunderstanding, I am reducing my views on good state government to writing. Please read them carefully and if you agree with me, vote for me, won't you? As one of the four members chosen from the legislature to serve on the non-partisan state budget committee. I shall recommend: 1. That a substantial part of the balance in the state general fund be earmarked for future use as reserve to maintain the present low local and state tax rates. 2. That the balance in the unemployment compensation fund be retained to guard against the shock of passible post war unemployment. At that time I shall propose that its provisions be expanded so that persons in the lower income brackets may live adequately without drawing upon a public dole. Under this program I believe Indiana will continue to be the state with the lowest state and local debt in the nation, without on increase in state or local tsx rates. I will appreciate your comments. If this is your program, too, won’t you support me in the general election, November 7? Robert H. Heller Democratic Candidate for Joint State Representative, for Adamo and Wells Counties. Pol advt.
