Civilian Supply Os Meat Above Average Drop Is Expected Next Three Months Washington. April 7.— (UP) — American civilian* consumed about 40 pound* of meat eact in the first three months of this year. This w. more meat than we have eaten in any similar period for 10 year*. The war food administration, in a report on the meat situation, says it originally planned to allocate 35 pounds of meat to each consumer. But high production and limited storage space made the extra five pounds possible. The WFA »ays the average meat portion will drop back to 35 pounds in the next three months. There will be plenty of pork In May and June, beef If the army doesn't need it. and leu lamb. Here is some good news for vegetarians. There’ll be plenty of fresh vegetable*, from broccoli to spinach on spring menu*. There are more eggs than W’FA knows what to do with, and an abufflfant supply of Irish potatoes. Apples and pear* will be scarce. On the political front, the returns are trickling in from the Wisconsin primary. Returns new show that Governor Dewey won more than half of the state's Republican votes. The top Dewey delegate-candidate, aeci'etary of state Zimmerman, polled more votes than the two leading delegates-al-large candidate for Lieutenant - Commander Sta*sen. General Douglas .MacArthur and Wendell Wlllkle combined. The top Roosevelt candidate ill the Deoocratic vote polled about 26.000 fjwe.' votes than Zimmerman. The total Republican vole was 61 percent of the ballot* cast. In Albany. Governor Dewey i« mum about bi* victory. He admits that he ha* received lots of messages from all over the country.
